SITOPÍA
The long working hours of both workers and students and the offshoring of eating routines make the scheduled times for food overlap. Sitopia is a culinary experience that aims towards creating a new meeting core in Ciudad Universitaria. It provides with a solution to the growing need of a place where to eat while maintaining an innovative programme that revolves around the kitchen.
The proposal is located on top of the Agronomic Engineering School, creating a new cleaner volume, with defined lines. It finishes the symmetry of the ever-evolving plan and creates a new cornice. The sensitive approach to the structural design allows minimum intervention in the pre-existing building, barely touching it in the highest points and flying over the lower parts.
Inside, the space is defined by the clear rhythm of the structure and a subtle sunlight treatment. A diaphanous plan grants a free configuration of each space – defining the kitchen spaces by its horizontal surfaces: the counters, the kitchens, a technical false ceiling.
