all at the same time
ALL AT THE SAME TIME is a hybrid cultural center in Carabanchel, Madrid, conceived as an open and adaptable architectural infrastructure. The project brings together four contrasting programs: library, boxing, high diving and music, within a single spatial system that allows for simultaneity, overlap and change over time.

Rather than defining fixed uses, the building establishes a structural framework inspired by Cedric Price’s Fun Palace, where architecture acts as an enabling system for activities and user appropriation. A 5 × 5 meter structural grid organizes the entire building and supports the insertion of more than twenty modular units, each responding to different programmatic and spatial intensities. Between these modules, unprogrammed spaces remain open for informal and unforeseen uses.

At the core of the building, a large vertical void connects all levels and concentrates circulation, light and environmental systems. The project integrates water and energy as visible architectural elements. Rainwater is collected on the roof, filtered through transparent façade pipes and partially converted into electricity via a micro-turbine. Seasonal variations in rainfall determine the contribution of this hydro-energy system.

During drier months, a heliostat placed above the central void captures and redirects solar radiation, increasing energy efficiency while channeling natural light deep into the building. In this way, the architecture responds directly to Madrid’s climate, operating as an active metabolic system rather than a static object, allowing multiple activities and energies to coexist, all at the same time.
