AN EXTENSION FOR THE SCHOOL
Vertical, monumental and sun-free. The project that transforms the ETSAM´s northern entrance.

This project presents a tower extension for the School of Architecture, transforming the northern approach into a symbolic, monumental gateway. Its structure comprises stacked platforms on cylindrical pillars, enclosed by a glazed curtain wall with a sun-control system.

The interior organization transitions from single-height theory classrooms to double-height collective studios, linked by open terraces and circulation spaces. The southern, eastern, and western facades feature a louvered brise-soleil system, directly inspired by Herzog & de Meuron's BBVA Headquarters project, while the north remains a clear glass plane for neutral light.

Vertical circulation is achieved via a continuous ramp for experiential movement and an efficient elevator core. The extension is accessed via two bridges from the existing pavilion and a ground-level ramp.
