The project consists of a self-sufficient commune in the mountains of Anaga, Tenerife. It has an experimental approach, an alternative way of life is proposed, living off the land and depending on the only reliable source of water and energy; the trade winds.
This is a complex and unique work that combines various lines of multidisciplinary research, among which the following stand out:
- Visual integration of architecture in the hazy atmosphere of the place
- Computational design of the structure by topological optimization
- Wire arc additive manufacturing technology (WAAM) for the execution of the metallic structure
- Water and energy self-sufficiency based on the use of the trade winds: fog harvesting and wind vortex-turbines
- Sociological study of alternative vitalities in the Canary Islands
- Constructive and spatial solutions for collective life and personal shelter; living in the cloud
