d-central port
My work developed in Proyectos 02 begins with an exercise that brought me to the idea of experimenting with a limitation of materials and their quantities.
The following exercise is based on duplicating Central Park's surface. My project has the objective of bringing Central Park to the Hudson River. Nowadays, Manhattan has run out of space but it is still changing and evolving. The island is filled to its limits, which confine it from its surroundings as they are on its majority highways. Potentially, in a near future, New York is going to need new ways of growing. One answer is to open the city to the river and deconfine it.
By using manageable modules, that are capable of rotating vertically and horizontally and are organized in a complex net connected to Central Park, a new fragmented vision of the seafront is created. This is an operating system that uploads and evolves with time. Plus, this intervention liberates the island's edge and decongests the city towards the water.
D-central integrates a mechanized and industrial architecture with a diversity of alternative spaces created for the people of New York. It does not only reconnect the city with its surroundings and introduces the river in the new yorker's lifestyle, but also un-limits the possibilities for the city of New York.
