Detroit Fabrication Laboratory
On a pixel of 100x100 m. we are asked to hybridize two construction systems. Beginning with a more industrial one, from which a plot will be created and to which a more residential system will be added.
In my case, the industrial building studied was the Ford engineering laboratories of Albert Kahn, whose structure covers the pixel almost in its fullness allowing the entry of light from a system of monitors that incorporates the walkable roof and which in turn connect both environments.
The residential plot starts from the cellophane house of Stephen Kieran and James Timberlake, of which not only it is convenient to use its structure formed by pillars and aluminum beams, but also the photovoltaic panels that incorporate their carpentry, destined to feed the whole building and grant some privacy inside the building.
The purpose that everything is connected to everything leads me to make the deck passable in a north-south direction, and to connect the towers with each other from a system of footbridges with east-west direction.
