Diagonal Interblocking
Countering the compactness of the pre-existing commercial building, the proposal introduces the void as a tool for domesticity. By excavating the monolith, two residential comb volumes emerge, restoring scale and natural light to the complex. The spatial tension within the inner courtyard is resolved through five diagonal bridges. Designed with full glass facades to preserve absolute visual permeability without internal barriers, this connective infrastructure links the communal areas across the void, materializing a stark contrast against the heavy original structure.
