ECOTONO PASAIA
Ecotono Pasaia redefines the contact between a neighbourhood and an industrial estate through an ecosystemic phenomenons' inspired proyect.
The ecosystemic interpretation of the territory applied to the urban environment of Bahia de Pasaia reveals the existing tensions in the space between the two areas. Its border condition makes it vulnerable, but also rich and diverse.
We propose to redefine this space from its hybrid nature, as a transition zone between ecosystems, and to give it a singular character that joins and mixes the uses it hosts. It is defined as a low density support system, formed by diaphanous spaces and retractable skins, inhabited by removable architectures that articulate its uses.
The proposal pursues to allow the correlation of uses previously distant and bring its users together equating them. This is: to define through architecture the area Landscape Ecologists called ecotone.
