During childhood, schools are more than buildings; they are places where we shape identity and values. The imprint of school endures, shaping our lives. In the Rocinha favela, we recognize the essential role of education and embark on creating a network of connected vertical schools. Inspired by a motor crankshaft, the towers are built with metal pieces, connected by large walkways.

These towers are placed along a very sloping terrain, therefore they also serve as a connection between the upper part of the favela and the lower part. They occupy an area without nearby schools, addressing a crucial educational need. Each tower has a diverent height to adapt to the favela's topography. Mobility in the towers is achieved through a central tube system, serving as an elevator and connecting classrooms with spiral staircases. Columns between modules become living libraries and forniture is adapted to the curved interior space of the tower. Therefore the classrooms are divided in two parts, one for teaching and the other one for reading. They are enclosed with glass to preserve openness and views.

In summary, this project not only constructs a network of schools but also seeks to improve the quality of life in the favela, providing essential tools to empower the youth.
