Enlargement of the Sky House
Study and enlargement of the Sky House by Kiyonori Kikutake, located in Tokyo, Japan. The Sky House is an elevated volume raised up on 4 pillars situated on the central axe of every side in order to free the corners. It is an open-plan house with the server space in the perimeter, an its particularity is the flexibility and the great adaptability to change.
The enlargement consists of a pavilion in which the program is divided by courtyards, both acoustic and visually. I opted for a lightweight structure that seeks the minimum encounter with the ground. Because of it, the access to the pavilion is through a hanging stair. It is a dialectic between the concrete of the Sky House and a lightweight structure.
