This project is the sum of a set of individual interventions, which reflect what we understand as the concept of church: a meeting space. By bringing together all the elements, we turn it into a meeting place between plants, people and animals.
This new space is physically perceived as a ghost structure that formally reproduces the interior of the church of San Marcos, composed of the four contributions: wooden columns, fabric domes, moss floor and a butterfly garden.
The presence of water is essential in this ecosystem. Therefore, we devised an irrigation system that is based on two circuits.
The set of components: water, moss, bare root plants, butterflies, caterpillars, fungi, bacteria... generate a space of coexistence and interaction between the human and the non-human. In this way, we achieve the main objective that we have pursued during this semester, architecture not being a barrier to the coexistence between humans and other species, which can benefit each other so much.
