Territorial analysis and strategic development of the proposal with Manuela Sancho Sánchez. Each one of us carries out his interpretation of the strategy through the detailed development of an area.
La Manga is a unique territory, a strip of sand located between two seas with a linear tourist city overlayed.
We have proposed the exercise as a design process. The methodology uses the appropriation of variables of the territory for the manipulation and reinterpretation of architectural types of interest, typical of the Mar Menor, that we have detected.
The final project proposes to implement a program of productive communities in La Manga, which includes production, housing, and spaces dedicated to teaching and research. That materializes in a diluted building in the territory.
This structure aims to reverse the seasonal character of the current population to make La Manga a more functional and diverse city, active throughout the year.
It is presented in phases, adding layers to the set that reinterpret and update it. In this way, a gradual consolidation of the new proposed is achieved.
The area that I have developed in detail is a large urban park configured in layers. Squares, following the footprint of past buildings, pavements, which use geometric motifs extracted from the territory, and pavilions. The different architectural types are incorporated in stages.
The result is a project that gathers the information of the place and catalyzes it in an urban collage, a structure that is born from the territory to revitalize La Manga.
