GLITCH
“Glitch” is a term used to describe an unexpected error or behavior in the game, caused by problems with code, graphics or game design.
In this reconfiguration of Méndez Álvaro my colleagues and I have focused on the problems of code, represented by the game of movement and color that characterizes so much glitches. In this way, to study in depth how these errors would be carried out and how they would develop in the different spaces during certain periods of time, the project limits the millions of components of the internal code of the neighborhood to exactly 36.
There are 36 colors that describe the operation of Méndez Álvaro, which appear in representation of different constructive, urban, objects and flora elements; all of them catalogued and assigned to a certain color of the code. These elements will undergo changes, appear and disappear and interact with each other based on a "chance", leading to a break from the preset and the creation of new ways of relating and inhabiting spaces.
The process will be carried out through three stages: the S scale, the initiation of errors; the M scale, the public character of glitch; and the L scale, the study of error in the private life of citizens.
"Glitch" is situated in a supposed metaverse where Méndez Álvaro remains the same but located in a parallel universe, because as far as we all know these sudden mixtures and combinations between tangible elements are not possible in our reality.
The neighborhood will become a great reservoir of biodiversity due to the great development and interaction between S, M and L devices throughout the neighborhood. Therefore, all the species that we can find in Madrid will come to the area at one time or another in order to find a better habitat for their development according to needs.
With the appearance of new glitch devices throughout Méndez Álvaro, people will be forced to change the ill-advised pattern of individualistic coexistence that they had pre-established and open the mind to new ways of cohabiting and coexisting.
In this way, all these errors are a great success for Méndez Álvaro.
