Hillside
A site in the proximities of Puente de Los Franceses, at first sight, a remain, another leftover coming from the huge infrastructures that connect the city of Madrid. However, in this place something unique happens, the union of three Green mass of the city: Casa de Campo, Madrid Río and Parque del Oeste.
Therefore, in this place the natural enviroment is essential but a private space for students becomes necessary: the Student’s House. Why not, instead of separate these two kind of spaces, we make them commute, connect, live and be one for each other. The “non-building” appears, a park that hides its inside the space, a naturalization of the artificial.
This way the connection between two worlds becomes complete: an outer world, greater in nature, paths, living space; and an inner world of study, team spirit, mixture of doctrines, studients meetings …
In order to create this new topography that is generated by these two worlds, the terrain is elevated with catenary-shaped supports that will leave at the same time enough space to lodge the substrate required for the exterior vegetation. This is what makes real and tangible the inner-outer connection.
