HÖHLE: PARALLEL REALITIES
In a supposed future where the planet is going through different catastrophes, killing all life on Earth, the market of San Lorenzo del Escorial becomes a link between the town and Höhle, a bunker that proposes a vertical drilling of more than 200 meters deep whose objective is to preserve all the animal, plant and bacterial life that populates the planet. It will remain active whether everything remains stable, being an attraction inside San Lorenzo and encouraged market activity; as if a crisis occurs, where it will be isolated from the outside and transformed into a self-sufficient vertical city with a concentric and modular organization with platforms at different levels that meets both human needs and those of fauna and flora thanks to its system by tubes responsible for the entry of light, water and energy distribution, and air cleanliness.
The outstanding Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo del Escorial also participates actively, as it becomes a production center for bunker supply. Among other features, their courtyards become sowing areas and collect food. However, with the onset of a catastrophe, these courtyards would be destroyed. Therefore, in the heart of Höhle we find a series of cultivation platforms revolving around the central light tube. From them all the surrounding human spaces are articulated, taking thus the supply as the generator of life of the bunker.
The whole also has a transport network by shuttles, thus generating a replica of the structure of the metro of the city of Madrid but in this case flying over the town of San Lorenzo with different "stations" such as the town hall, the house of the prince, the infant’s cottage or the monastery’s own basilica.
And so... what would that recovery of species be like after catastrophes? The process is based on an entire underground network and intertwined tunnels that house cryopreservation chambers with ovules, DNA or seeds of all the species that populate the Earth, for when it is deserted, the genetic material comes out and manages to repopulate the planet.
The first phase of this repopulation would be the pollination of the land through a series of pollinator towers kept underground and connected to storage tanks that, when released to the outside, open in the form of a flower for the correct propulsion of the seeds.
In the bunker we also find a set of capsules where two types are distinguished: human with rest areas, and synanthropic habitats, protagonists in the second apart of the project: an extension of Höhle based on the synanthropy of reptiles, more specifically the lizards. The habitat consists of two macladed capsules. The first corresponds to a large terrarium with adequate conditions of stratum, light, moisture and food for lizards, this environment being extrapolated to the second capsule where the process of moulting the reptiles, ecdysis, but artificially. Consisting of four phases, the exuvia is finally obtained, the detached exoskeleton that will act as a structural skin responsible for covering the bunker and maintaining its interior temperatures.
For the skin generated in the ecdisis capsule to reach the entire Höhle assembly, it will be connected by tubes to the central distribution system located right in the heart of the bunker. It will perform exuvia treatment in its tanks in case, during the journey, moisture levels have been lost and its waterproof capacity has been weakened. In addition, depending on humidity levels, its evolution over the months will vary depending on the outdoor climate changing color, thus providing a show of lights and movement for the inhabitants of the bunker.
In the monastery exuvia will also appear, taking as heart of the process the Courtyard of the Evangelists' templet. Its objective remains the same: to protect the outdoor environment and extreme climates, however, in this case it is responsible for protecting the food sown in the cultivation yards.

Throughout the project different relationships between various themes are appreciated: calm and crisis, the old (the monastery) and the new (the bunker), loss (species) and recovery (repopulation) as a lizard regenerating its tail... thus generating a remarkable existence of Parallel Realities.
