HOLCIM
Holcim. The world’s largest cement works. An industrial micro-city that rises on a hill in the middle of the Manchego fields halfway between Madrid and Toledo.
This is where the postgraduate school specialising in precast concrete and building materials comes in.
It will be an architecture open to time, transformation and change of program. It is a transformed land that continues to be transformed, what is taken out is reused, given another place, another use and another form.
The project is intended to enter this cycle and be a stage in it. The idea that everything has a beginning and an end, of starting over, of connecting and connected elements, of coming and going, is present in the industrial process but also in architecture career, and therefore in our day-to-day life as students of it.
So the idea of flow, movement, will be present throughout the project.
A common but fragmented program.
