la nueva muralla
The proposal is born from the perspective of connecting with the city its historical social and environmental layers working as an enriched continuity restoring forgotten places through giving something valuable to the neighbors of Madrid.
Through elements such as urban gardens, meeting places, learning places or viewpoints that give back to its inhabitants the protagonism of the urban landscape. The project tries as much as possible to integrate with the topography and logic of the environment, through a structure that forms a continuum of brick vaults, a way of living that respects and dialogues with the urban and heritage environment where it is installed. The vaults are inspired by traditional construction systems that respond to the materiality of Madrid, the brick.
It adapts flexibly to the existing architecture as it uses as a guide structure the layout of the Christian and Muslim walls of Madrid, recognizing its historical footprint and the legacy it represents.
In elevation is structured by full and empty creating its own language and generating a horizontal walkway with a continuous line of walk and observation, in floor plan can be observed 3 types of living through equipment or community spaces for shared use, creating neighborhood life. Through open plan housing inhabited through amoebas that allow free movement through the house. And through its terraces that will be arranged next to these as longitudinal strips that follow all the terraces.
