PARASITIZING CATALINAS NORTE
The 2000s, the artificial intelligence boom.
2024, artificial intelligence is already found in all areas of work.
2050, will it be the end of architects?
Every day artificial intelligence is increasing its power and importance in all areas of our day to day. All this reinforces the idea that our jobs are at risk. Is this real?

This course has begun under the premise of, through two images generated by artificial intelligence, creating an architectural project. As expected, our role in developing a realistic project was essential and resulted in three unique projects.

Given the common characteristics of our projects, this union emerges that seeks to solve the second question: will we be able to revive the business areas that have suffered the abandonment of office spaces? To do this, we are located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in one of the country's business icons, the Torres Catalinas Norte.

The main objective of the proposal is to reactivate the presence of leisure in the area, using as a base the combination of the projects developed initially. We focus on extracting the latent energy of transformative architectures. This is why the Catalinas Norte tower complex is invaded by a series of parasites that adopt the characteristics of the towers they adhere to, generating new spaces with different uses that attract a new audience, reviving both the towers and their surroundings and moving away from the productive ecosystem that characterizes it today.

Parasites adopt the building systems of the towers. Both the enclosures and the structural system are implanted in the parasites. Different interactions occur between the two and it is possible for the parasite to enter the tower and modify its pre-existing structure and configuration, or for the tower to grow and develop inside the parasite. The disparity of situations that arise are unique and are not determined by rules.

The structural systems that parasites adopt from the towers determine their interior spatial complexity, generating more diaphanous or compartmentalized spaces.
In turn, the activity that takes place in each room is determined by the type of space that is created and its material characteristics. We can find from wall enveloping systems single or double curtain, to ventilated facades, traditional or solid concrete walls that give rise to exhibition halls, sports centers, greenhouses, catering,...

The fact that there are so many parasites infecting the area, provides a great variety of architectural situations with embedded, cantilevered or buried spaces, in addition to an urban development marked by the geometry of the project.
