Perspective Merger
Perspective Merger forms part of the contemporary artistic movement Land-Art, which invites to the viewer to reflect on the human action on the environment. The aim of this consideration is to preserve our environment through these artworks. Located in San Lorenzo del Escorial, specifically in the Herrería Forest, Perspective Merger tries to capture the exact moment in which the sky and the underground tree projections merge and create an unit in themselves. Additionally, we can find a change in scale which produces an optical illusion. It gives the feeling that the space we are in is the underground or in a cliff, and the real branches of the tree seem to be individual trees. The main photo of the project captures these three factors that make it an artwork.
Regarding the process, the projections were made by american tape, and portable stairs were needed in order to place these projections. During the process, it was essential the constant study of the perspective from the point of view as well as the investigation of the changing atmosphere of the moment, searching the exact tone of color which fit the tree projections.
