red RED
in Rocinha, Rio de Janeiro, life takes over every existing space; every street, corner or staircase
in the absence of community places, the inhabitants of Rocinha turn to the rooftops of buildings to carry out everyday activities
the project red RED is installed on the rooftops of the favela, delineating communal spaces through physical separation to enable the simultaneous use of areas; it serves as an intervention that coexists with the existing surroundings and aligns with the identity of the crowded place it occupies
by adding two distinct elements, the possibilities of the urban graft are expanded, giving rise to two foldable fragments: the roof and the closure; these allow for temporary shelter and a more private use of space
