Shelter in Place
The course focused on the significance of space and its configuration. It started with building a personal and private space and progressed towards creating a more inclusive and communal space for students.

At the beginning of the project, it is proposed to build an individual, personal space and to study the relationship it generates.

Increasing the scale we reach the next stop of the course, creating a space for 3 people, collective. Understanding that space is not only what we build but also the relationships that are generated within it.

With a larger scale we built the idea of shelter, understanding that the space must meet the existing needs. This was achieved using an inflatable structure with a double layer of EFTE hanging on a mesh on the façade.

Extending the scale even further, the concept is to create an educational space that goes beyond traditional limitations. The idea is to eliminate the constraints of walls and doors by using scaffolding to create flexible spaces with varying heights.

The last stop of the course brings together all the work done to create a space dedicated to the students.
The proposal is integrated into the university. Its structure manages to adapt following the lines of the façade of the existing building. It provides different accesses, from the rose garden or the terrace.

Two opposing elements create distinct spaces, shaped by their usage.
The closed, continuous and formally rounded element, the spheres, become shelters for activities that require isolation and privacy: auditoriums, individual study and rest rooms.
The lattice structure disappears, giving us an unobstructed view of the landscape and creating a captivating interplay of light and shadow on the curved surface of the spheres.
Collective and open spaces, such as outdoor classrooms and group work areas, are located in the negative exterior of the spheres, where the space is delimited.
