Sin casa, no sin hogar
There are two main ideas that have been taken into account to design an emergency shelter for women in the historic center of Lisbon.
-The context: the ruins of a house, the objective has been to respect the pre-existing at all times
-Residents: Women victims of gender violence who may be accompanied by their children and will live in the center temporarily.
To connect the residence to the city without compromising the safety of the women, the ruins at street level are used as a barrier between the complex and the outside, since the modules are always located behind the ruins. The ruins cover up, give privacy and protect without isolating the women from the city.
The aim is to create thought architecture a safe and flexible environment that gives women strength to continue with their normal lives, always taking into account the richness and historical value of where the center is located
