Sky Loop
The project consisted in three different activities:
In the first exercise, we were given a series of portraits, and we had to abstract them using lines and colors. The goal was to keep the essence of these portraits while giving them our new interpretation.
In the second exercise, using the main characteristics of our drawings, we had to create a mask that could stand on its own, without any external structure.
In my portraits, the common characteristic was the filled pattern that appeard in all of them.
From this element, I was able to create a mask only made of notebook rings, that kept the principle in the drawings, acting as a synthesis of the previous exercise.
Finally, the third exercise was to transform this mask into a building. The mask would be the exterior, and we had to desing the inside of it, being restricted by its shape and law of construction.
I designed an observation tower that had inside a ramp that was intertwined with the rings of the building.
These exercises allowed us to transition from abstraction to projecting a building, exploring the connections between art, desing and architecture.
