Street Front
The project is located in the industrial area of Urtinsa, in Alcorcón, Madrid. This is an urban area with limited conections to the city, an isolation that also shows at different areas inside, favoring a predominance of car traffic. The automobile presence is highly invasive, in a way that stand in the way of pedestrians and other urban mobilities such as cyclists. This is an area with a great amount of economical activity, but those are contained inside the industrial units, unconnected to the visitors, who will find a very damaged urban space.
Street Front proposes the creation of a new street facade that will organize the buildings frontal space and compose a continous comunication axis throught the introduction of a pedestrian promenade and cycle lane that connects the isolated areas within the neighbourhood. The front is a permeable structure, that will play the role of both facade and activities container to extend the limits of the industrial units, to expand and update their current functions, like a new comercial Strip. It also includes new residences for young people, students and professionals, created as a space for residence and work simultaneously.
