Tensegrity
Tensegrity: structural principle based on a system of isolated components under compression inside a network of continuous tension and arranged in a way that te compressed members do not touch each other while the tensioned members delineate the system spatially.
This semester our goal was to create new spaces and situations out of found objects and materials.
We worked first with our bodies and then with the scenic space so that we could first get to know the scale of a person and then take it to a bigger situation: the stage.
On our first project we used our bodies as the base of the structure that would later become a new space and that had to be able to change and evolve. On our second project we took that same idea of change to a bigger scale and we created different spatial situations inside a box.
I based my work on the concept of tensegrity and tried to create space and variations by studying the elasticity of the materials I chose and combining it with geometric patterns the whole time so that nothing was random.
