The Box and Its Extension
My project is about the extension based on an existing house 'The Box' of Ralph Erskine in Sweden. The existing house is located in a forest. It has only a kitchen, a living room, a storage area for firewood and a porch. The architect, as well as the owner of the house only work at a small corner in the house, so I decided to do a studio for the extension. The studio is a tree house, and the communication between the existing house and the studio is a serie of ramps that leads people from the house to the studio. The studio is made of wood and it is very light. What's more, it is transformable. It is introvert and completely closed at the beginning but it can open little by little until it turns into a extrovert open box that is facing to the view. The sustaining elements are beams which support the studio and the ramps and they are connected from one tree to another.
