THE LIVING FOREST
The project connects a public area with a residential zone through a deciduous tree forest that naturally regulates the climate. In the residential area, volumes intersect at different heights, creating large openings resolved with Vierendeel beams.
The ground floor is designed as a spacious public area that encourages neighbor interaction, integrating common spaces and open pathways.
The housing units are arranged in narrow volumes allowing flexible interior layouts using movable partitions and foldable furniture. Some units function as temporary housing, consisting only of a bedroom and bathroom.
The outdoor public space utilizes terrain slopes and roofs that define spaces, including waiting areas for buses and metro. The hexagonal shape creates recesses that improve circulation and connect with a pedestrian path leading to the residences. Urban furniture, both fixed and mobile, is designed with weight to prevent theft.
The structure is metallic with upper trusses to support the cantilevered sections, while the clay block cladding contributes to improving interior thermal comfort.
