What if instead of seeing waste as something disposable, we try to see it as a treasure?
When Trash Becomes Treasure produces a performative transformation of a housing tower in Madrid Rio and its surroundings, in such a way that the processes of waste circulation are manifested.
The building is recolonized with dwellings built from recycled materials to create a vertical neighbourhood in which on each level there is a community that cohabits according to its members and the waste they generate.
The tower becomes a metabolic network with the installation of a waste digestion system and the construction of the organ that transforms non-recycled waste into energy, heat and electricity, a Waste-To-Energy system.
An extensive network of systems and pipes connect the dwellings with the entire waste digestion system to achieve the constant flow of intelligent waste management.
It is therefore both a human and industrial cooperative to contribute to the management of recycling and to give due value to waste.
